BAA Heathrow Express makes fast connection with Eclipse Computing & Microsoft Great Plains

Heathrow Rail link operator will use fully integrated financials and human resources software to reduce month end process by four days

Heathrow Express, the high-speed rail link between Heathrow Airport and London’s Paddington Station, has placed an order with business software consultants, Eclipse Computing, for a fully integrated back office financials and human resources software solution that enables visibility of highly detailed management reporting information across the company. The software selected is a Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics business system, valued in excess of £50,000. The system is planned to go live this month at Heathrow Express.

Steve Forbes, IT Manager at Heathrow Express comments, “Our staff are our biggest asset and we needed greater access to high level information. Now we have key-critical human resources and financial data available at our fingertips, which can be shared freely across the business.”

He continues, “Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics allows a seamless flow of information between human resources and the back office. Its ease of use, competitive pricing structure and broad functionality are excellent. As a result of implementing this system we expect to reduce our month end process considerably through time savings across the company.”

Before selecting Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics, Eclipse worked with BAA Heathrow Express to carry out a comprehensive business needs analysis that helped the company to select a business software solution that matched its requirements. Having chosen Dynamics, the company is now able to gain greater visibility of human resources data relating to its 240 staff, including information on training programmes, staff attendance, sickness and holiday records. This information is linked with Microsoft Great Plains financials, providing the ability to produce sophisticated management reports.

The BAA Heathrow Express train service is a £450 million initiative to increase the use of public transport to and from Heathrow Airport. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BAA plc which aims to provide the most successful fast airport link in the world.
